Remember when school was just about out for the summer? The anticipation of playing in the waves of the ocean or a special summer vacation was tantalizing us in our waking and dreaming states. Pretty soon, no more books! Then, just as we thought we were Scott-free, the teacher passed out a long list of books to read for the summer. I remember that there were mandatory books to read and others that were suggested, if you got through the mandatory reading list. We would all groan and off to the library we would go to borrow them with extended privileges.
What we would give right now to have that kind of time on our hands, that kind of freedom to laze around by the pool, on the couch, or in the mountains, reading. Let’s stop right now and just imagine what that would feel like and be like if. . . . If we imagine it long enough and often enough, we will manifest it into reality. We might choose to actually include “Read a good book” on our Things To Do List. As I have said before, if we put it on the list along with all those other things we must do, there will be a better chance of actually accomplishing that good read.
So, why do we neglect the power of a good book? While I passed a Public Library today, I saw the inscription on the wall. It said, “Good books make good companions.” We can travel far, expand our view and take off blinders, open our consciousness, and learn much when we read. Reading exercises our brain and our mental processes. It helps us expand our point of reference and, therefore, allow for more compassion and understanding of ourselves and others.
Many of us have many books. They sit on our coffee tables in our living rooms or piled high on our night stands. Perhaps we think we are Edgar Cayce and will absorb the information while we sleep. I do this with books that are more difficult to absorb and those that I probably would never be able to “write a book report” on, like the Pistis Sophia or Book of Knowledge: Keys of Enoch, by J. J. Hurtak. When someone asks me if I read them, I tell them I’ve Edgar Cayced them! If you don’t know what I mean by that, you may want to read There is a River: The Story of Edgar Cayce, by Thomas Sugrue.
There are many books I have read with my own eyes with much pleasure. I will share my favorites here. And, of course, I will share which are on my To Do list, as well.

·         Giuliana Legacy, by Alexis Masters. This book is visionary fiction that I feel carries many truths. It is a mystical journey into the age-old Mysteries of Love and takes place in Cyprus and Tuscany. The main character, Julia, allows her true inheritance to unfold, which brings her on a journey to her psychic and spiritual gifts.

·         13 Original Clan Mothers, by Jamie Sams. This book shares Native American Women’s Medicine. I found the teachings so profound that I had a monthly women’s circle, which met for 6 years, based on the teachings in this book. These 13 Clan Mothers serve as role models and Spirit Teachers on the personal journey of fulfillment. This book also addresses pathways for healing the planet, which is dominated by destructive and divisive models. I find this book an easy read. It is set up so that you can read just one clan mother per moon cycle, because each Clan Mother is connected with each of our 13 moons.

·         This next book helps balance our spiritual connection by reminding us to take care of our body through what we feed it. I’ve received so many benefits by following the program outlined by Caroline M. Sutherland, Medical Intuitive, in The Body Knows: How to Tune Into Your Body and Improve Your Health. If you’ve ever wondered why you gain weight, retain fluid, feel jittery, get headaches, have joint stiffness or lack energy, or have digestive problems or memory loss—and want to know what to do about it, then this book is the key to finding out the truth about your own health equation.

·         I’m in the middle of reading Angel Medicine: How to Heal the Body and Mind with the Help of the Angels, by Doreen Virtue. Doreen personally signed this one for me when I recently reconnected with her at an I Can Do It! Hay House conference. This book is a spiritual adventure story and a reference book. I’m still in the adventure story part and loving every minute of it.

Among the books piled on my end table to read very soon is The Power of Now: A Guide to Spiritual Enlightenment, by Ekhart Tolle. I know I am behind most of you on this one, so I may not be telling anything new at all. This book will clear out a lot of confusion, and bring clarity and awareness. I like to play “magic book” by spontaneously opening books I haven’t made time to read from cover to cover. When I open one of them, I find exactly what I need to know at that moment. Here is a direct quote from the moment that I am writing this, from one of those books. This is where my eyes fell:
Unless you stay present—and inhabiting your body is always an essential aspect of it—you will continue to be run by your mind. The script in your head that you learned a long time ago, the conditioning of your mind, will dictate your thinking and your behavior. You may be free of it for brief intervals, but rarely for long. This is especially true when something “goes wrong” or there is some loss or upset. Your conditioned reaction will then be involuntary, automatic and predictable, fueled by the one basic emotion that underlies the mis-identified state of consciousness: fear. (
The Power of Now: A Guide to Spiritual Enlightenment, Ekhart Tolle, p. 98)

This statement reminds me to mention that great books to read are any and all books by Carlos Castaneda and Don Miguel Ruiz. The Toltec teachings help us shift our assemblage point, which is where the above-referenced conditioning remains stuck. When we change our consciousness, we break into freedom from learned behavior and move toward a closer connection with our truth and our Divine connections with our Higher Selves. Another book that is actually on my Things To Do List is The Disappearance of the Universe:
Straight Talk About Illusions, Past Lives, Religion, Sex, Politics, and the Miracles of Forgiveness, by Gary Renard. This has become a big seller. It went from a small publishing house to a huge one in one step and in a short period of time. This book will appeal to spiritual seekers connected with channeled writing and the Course in Miracles.
There are many more books, but I will leave you with this thought. . . . Look forward to someday sliding into your armchair or lounging by the pool with my book. I’m holding the vision, will you? Because it is only partially complete, you will have to wait with bated breath and read all these other fabulous authors in the meantime.
May the authors of our world continue to tune into wisdom, knowledge, and sage advice so we may learn and grow. May we remember to take the time to stop, read, and ponder what we have read. May we integrate the many teachings offered by these books and live our book reports instead of having to write them.

 Many Blessings,

Margaret
