Living Life to the Fullest

Here we go . . . into another New Year. We set our intentions of how we want to be, what we want to accomplish and what we will no longer accept in our lives. Our New Year’s Resolutions have become a habit for some of us and for others it got lost somewhere in the shuffle. If we’ve dropped the ritual of writing down a list of New Year’s Resolutions, then perhaps this is the year to try it on for size again.

The ritual of making a list of what you desire and what you no longer desire in your life, is one that can be performed with the passing of every New Moon. What a wonderful way to create a happy healthy prosperous fulfilling life! As one of my favorite Medicine Songs goes: “We are the Weavers, We are the Woven Ones, We are the Dreamers, We are the Dream!” AHA! Let us step into our power as human beings and consciously create our realities. The key word in that last sentence is consciously. Performing the ritual of making resolutions, ya know, ‘the list’ . . .. is to allow yourself to consciously create yourself, who you choose to spend your time with, your livelihood, your passions, your health and your everyday circumstances.

I consciously choose to live a charmed life or one that is filled with Grace, Love, Joy and warm nurturing people and friends. When life veers off that track, then I know it is time for me to step back within prayer and meditation and re-affirm and connect with myself. Through self-observation and reflection, we have the opportunity to work through and walk through our fears, self doubts and insecurities. When we come out the other side, we may then continue forward towards living life to the fullest in grace, in love, in joy, in the company of warm nurturing people and friends. So if that is what you want then perhaps it’s time to write it down.

There are many ways to approach this creation of reality. First, we must ‘clear the land’ or the space in our mind and heart so we can release the mish mash of negative thought forms using up precious space, time and energy in our lives. This may also include literally clearing your space, i.e. your house and office, with smudge, sound, aromatherapy or good old-fashioned mop and broom! Giving yourself and your home a good spiritual bath can really uplift the environment. We often forget about the unseen world and how thoughts and emotions can linger on energetically. (A Commercial Advertisement: I’ll be giving a class on this subject on Tuesday, January 7 called Smudging and Blessing.)

I truly appreciate the power of the written word. I have found that journaling provides an outlet to really think about how I am feeling and perceiving things. I also have found using the imagination while journaling provides a creative outlet for possible or potential realities. Write It Down and Make It Happen is the title of a book. The title says a thousand words. Don’t you think? If you can imagine it, you can make it happen. If you build it, they will come!

Here’s a suggestion. Make a sacred space by clearing your place, light a candle, put on some soft flowing music, grab a notebook and a pen and write down 100 things that you would like to do in this lifetime. Just let it flow from you without too much hesitation. Please allow yourself the gift of writing things down that on some level you believe are impossible. Write them down anyway! Remember when going to the moon seemed impossible? Then you can work with this list by breaking it down into categories of Spirituality, Career, Family, Play, etc. and further categorize by prioritizing each list. Then take one item from one or two lists (or more if you are the multi-tasking type) and further break it down to outline how you can make it happen and then go make it happen!!!! Some things on the list of 100 will magically manifest through Divine Grace yet the majority of them are up to you to Consciously Create. (Another Commercial Advertisement: I’ll be facilitating this process in a workshop on Thursday night, January 2 entitled New Year Guided Meditation and Tools for Manifestation )

I will leave you with this: One night I woke up in the wee hours of the morning and couldn’t fall back to sleep so I turned on the TV and caught an infomercial for Anthony Robbins. In that moment that I turned on the TV, he was saying, “If I am having trouble deciding if I should do something that’s really big for me in my life, I do this. I imagine that I am 80 years old sitting in a rocker on a porch. I imagine that I am looking back at my life. I ask myself as that 80-year-old if I will regret that I didn’t have the courage to take action and do that big thing that I was afraid to do. If I find that I would be sorry if I didn’t at least try, then I have my answer!”

Sounds a bit like the saying, “It is better to have loved and lost, than to never have loved at all!” Let us go on loving ourselves and each other and move through our fears, blocks and doubts. Let us Live Life to the Fullest!

May Our Lives Be Blessed with

Peace, Joy and Love!
