Birthing a New Reality: Making the World a Better Place
We’ve just passed
the 9-month mark of the September 11 terrorist attack. I feel that it is time to
look at what new reality has been birthed in our lives. What changes have we
created to make our lives better? What decisions have we made to make a
difference in our own lives and in the lives of all mankind? What actions have
we taken to ensure that we don’t keep saying ‘someday I will . . . ‘? If today
were our last day on this magnificent planet, would we honestly be able to say
we’ve done what we wanted to do while we were here?
I feel it is important to remember and integrate the lessons
we’ve learned from the loss of all those lives. If you haven’t figured out what
lessons you’ve learned, what changes you want to make, then I strongly recommend
taking the time to do so now! Life is too short. Every day makes a difference.
Every kind word, every hug, every smile, and every time you reach out in
kindness and compassion makes a difference. Be good to each other. Be sensitive
to the feelings of others. Pay attention to others and take the time to actually
look them in the eye and truly listen.
I personally lost a dear friend during the September 11th
tragedy. Jeff Giordano, a New York Firefighter of Ladder Company No. 3, left the
planet on that day. His wife and my dear friend Marie along with her three
children, Victoria, Nicholas and Alexandra are still here on the planet
discovering a new life. Nick had a school assignment during this past year to
write a myth. With Nick’s permission, I am sharing his myth with you now. May it
truly touch your heart!
The Spirit of Jeffolas
In the land of
Solar, people lived their lives in fear. They went to work every day and tried
to live normal lives. But, they knew that at any time the evil demon, Ember,
might kill them.
Ember traveled in fire. Lightning shot out of his fingers.
His mission was to destroy all good and cause grief and panic. The people of
Solar didn’t know what to do. Whenever they got together to plan an attack,
Ember knew about it and set the place on fire. They wanted to freeze him or
drown him in water but his powers were too strong. The only thing they could do
was pray. They prayed in their own homes at the same time. All their voices were
heard and God sent down the powerful Jeffolas.
The power of Jeffolas came from the two spirits of love that
lived inside him. These two spirits, Jeff and Nick, combined to make Jeffolas as
strong as an ox. His speed could outrun any bolt of lightning. He was as smart
as a fox. The most important tool that Jeffolas had was his purity and love.
Jeffolas came down to earth with only a glowing piece of
clothing. He had to find the land of Solar. He couldn’t find it because he was
looking for light. But since Ember invaded, it was covered in darkness. He found
the town and the shop that sold armor. He asked the merchant for his best sword
and shield. He said, “I am going to save this land and fight the terrifying
Ember.”
He went to search forEmber. One day he saw Ember going to the
village. Jeffolas ran as fast as he could and confronted Ember. Ember snickered
and asked, “What do you think you are doing?” Jeffolas replied, “I have come to
destroy you and restore light to Solar.” The battle began. Ember shot his
lightning but Jeffolas ran out of the way. Jeffolas swung his sword but Ember
followed and got dizzy. Jeffolas threw his shield at the dizzy Ember and sliced
him in half, killing him.
Jeffolas won the battle. All of a sudden, the land of Solar
was beaming with sunlight. Jeffolas split into his two spirits. Jeff took all
the souls up to heaven to live in peace. Nick stayed in the new light of Solar
to protect them.
