Strands of Power . . . A Follow Up I received quite a bit of feedback on last month’s article, "Strands of Power." The information and insights I shared comes from a variety of sources and personal experiences. In the summer of ‘92, I had the opportunity to spend time by Spider Rock in Canyon de Chelly, Arizona. During that time, some of these teachings came to my awareness.
If you wish to delve further, here are some book suggestions. The teachings of the Spider and Spider Woman can be found in Spider Woman’s Granddaughters: Traditional Tales and Contemporary Writing by Native American Woman edited by Paula Gunn Allen; Grandmothers of the Light: A Medicine Woman’s Sourcebook by Paula Gunn Allen; Animal Speak by Ted Andrews; Medicine Cards by Jamie Sams & David Carson.
These teachings also relate to the direction of the West of the Medicine Wheel. Dancing with the Wheel: The Medicine Wheel Workbook by Sun Bear, Wabun Wind and Crysalis Mulligan is an excellent book.
In closing, Josie RavenWing, in her lectures here and her Desert Visions Workshop in Arizona, as well as her book, Return of Spirit: A Woman’s Call to Spiritual Action shared teachings along the same line. Her book really delves into energy awareness, the cords of attachment and much more.
