Small pyramidal tree. Leaves are oblong, evergreen, smooth, and shiny; flowers are white, single or panicled. The orange tree was brought to the Mediterranean from Asia by the Saracens during the Crusades.

Origin:	Sicily, Israel, Spain, and the United States
Fragrance:	Perky, lively scent of the orange
Therapeutic Properties:	Antidepressant. anti-inflammatory, antiseptic, antispasmodic, bactericidal, digestive, astringent, expectorant, fungicidal, sedative, insecticide
Uses:	Obesity, water retention, palpitations. Constipation dyspepsia, spasm. Nervous tension and stress-related conditions, anorexia. Bronchitis, chills, colds, flu. Gingivitis, disinfectant.
Blends Well with:	Lavender, lemon, clary sage, myrrh and spicy oils such as nutmeg, cinnamon and clove.
Cautions: Use in moderation as it may irritate the skin, blend with lavender for longer term use. Slightly photosensitizing. Related essential oils from tangerine or mandarin make a milder safer choice for pregnant women and very young children.
