Patchouli is used in Asia as an insect repellent by incorporating it into clothing fabrics and rugs. The herb has always played a major role in traditional Chinese and Japanese medicine where it it used as a stimulant, stomachic and for its antiseptic properties.
Botanical Name:	Pogostemon cablin
Origin:	Native to Tropical South East Asia, Indonesia and the Philippines. Today also India, South America and China.
Fragrance:	Sweet rich earthy, woodsy odor. Penetrating and cedar-like.
Therapeutic Properties:	Antiseptic, regenerative, deodorant. Anti-depressant, aphrodisiac, carminative, nervous stimulant, Anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, antifungal, antiseptic, antiviral, astringent, deodorant, insect repellent.
Uses:	Impetigo, nervous exhaustion, headache, vomiting. Acne, athlete's foot, dermatitis, eczema, fungal infections, cracked skin, oily skin, wrinkles. Dandruff, oily hair. the rather earthy aura promotes a grounding and balancing effect.
Blends Well with:	Vetiver, sandalwood, cedarwood, rose, orange blossom, bergamot, cassia, myrrh, clary sage, elemi. lavender, lemongrass, neroli, pine, sandalwood and rose.
Cautions: Non-toxic, non-irritant, non-sensitizing. May cause loss of appetite which is fine if eating habits need to be curved. apparently sedative in low doses and rather stimulant in high.
