The modern source of most "Cedarwood" essential oil is really juniper (Juniperus virginiana), a coniferous evergreen known as "red Cedar".
Botanical Name: Cedrus atlantica Origin: The oil from the Lebanon cedar was possibly the first to be extracted; it was used by the ancient Egyptians for embalming purposes, cosmetics and perfumery. Fragrance: Rich, woody, warm, masculine, grounding. Therapeutic Properties: Antiseptic, astringent, diuretic, expectorant, fungicidal, calming, strengthening, rejuvenating, sedative, insecticide, tonic.
Uses:
Cellulite, fluid retention, tonic, Strengthens hair growth; detoxifies scalp and roots; good for scalp problems; oily hair, hair loss, nervous tension, anxiety, meditation-focusing, stress, fear, anger, aggression, agitation, vertigo dandruff, arthritis, rheumatism, bronchitis, coughs, catarrh, immune stimulant, asthma, colds, dissolves mucous, skin infections, acne, blemishes, oily skin, fungus, dandruff, eczema, hair loss, ulcers. excessive perspiration.
Blends Well with: Bergamot, cypress, and all other tree oils; jasmine, juniper, neroli, rose, rosemary, thyme. Cautions: Avoid in pregnancy. Possible irritant to sensitive skin or in strong dilution. Inhaling the fragrance is stimulating and possibly counteracts the sedative effects of drugs like pentobarbital. Not to be used with high BP or heart problems.
